5Kevents is proud to announce the launch of the 5Kevents
Scholarship Fund, a new initiative dedicated to honoring local running
icons Carl Granetzke (Caledonia, WI) and Marcia Balthazor
(West Allis, WI) while fostering the next generation of Racine champions.
The scholarship will award one male and one female Senior High School athlete annually who embodies the spirit of dedication, perseverance, and love for the
sport that Carl and Marcia exemplified. Financial aid will help talented young
runners overcome obstacles and pursue their running dreams.
"Carl and Marcia are true inspirations," says
Patrick Flynn, President at 5Kevents "Their dedication and commitment to
Racine's running community are immeasurable, and this scholarship is our way of
ensuring their legacies continue to motivate and empower future
generations."
Carl Granetzke is known for his infectious enthusiasm and
countless miles (Over 700 Races in his lifetime), inspiring countless runners to embrace the joy of running.
Marcia Balthazor, a pioneer in women's
running, shattered barriers and paved the way for future generations to take
their rightful place on the starting line.
